Bridport bargains
Honestly, you just couldn't get this kind of value in Homebase. I went to the stall of the slightly mad woman at Bridport Market and got these twenty-four beautiful plants for only £9.50. I wanted more but we couldn't fit them in the car.
Nice one Gordon!
1950's Russell
Finally got to the Gordon Russell Museum in Broadway and saw loads of lovely things designed by the man who was determined to make stylish furniture affordable to all. I think he would have liked the fact that I got one of his sideboards for £35 off Ebay. He wanted to make good quality items that could be passed down through families. Most mass produced things nowadays aren't beautifully crafted like Russell's furniture is. I can't see any of our Ikea stuff being coveted by future generations. It's definitely not well-crafted because I put it together myself. Badly.

Back in Belgium
I ticked another Dutch city off my Belgium bingo list by spending the weekend in Antwerp. Had a lovely time wandering around antique and vintage shops and dreaming of what patisserie treat I would embark on next. The city is full of nice old buildings, beer and odd bods. There were fewer resplendent moustaches than in Brussels, but seeing a man whose spectacles appeared to be smaller than his actual eyes, more than made up for that.

Peanut patrol
Today mum and dad gave me some binoculars from Lidl.I think my eyes are too close together for them to work properly. But I did get a close up of a Great Tit flying off with a peanut.

Let's look on the bright side
Found out today that it seems pretty certain I will lose my job at the Beeb. I could get all upset (and I'm sure that bit will come) but there were also plenty of good things that happened today. Like all this:
1. I saw a man weaving fast through the Media Village on a skateboard, whilst nattering on his mobile phone. Very Nathan Barley.
2. I saw a man in a cycle helmet, carrying a briefcase-like bag, ride past the canteen on a unicycle.
3. I saw Chico (of Chico Time fame) jump out from behind a hedge.
Amazing!
